Academic Preparation
Dr. Waltz holds a PhD in Chinese and MA degrees in Chinese Linguistics and Conference Interpreting. She is one of only a handful of non-Chinese graduates of Taiwan's prestigious Graduate Institute of Translation and Interpreting Studies.

With over two decades providing linguistic solutions for all kinds of clients, Terry Thatcher Waltz, a Capital District native, brings rich and varied life experiences and rigorous training to her work. She emphasizes solving real problems and finding the most cost-effective and appropriate service to each new project.

Dr. Waltz is an active member of major translation associations such as the National Association of Judicial Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT) and the American Translators Association (ATA). She travels to Asia regularly to keep her language skills up to date, and frequently pursues new certifications and educational challenges to further hone her skills.

Whether translating or interpreting, designing innovative Chinese language teaching materials, or developing better ways to manage terminology or help learners acquire Mandarin tones, Dr. Waltz emphasizes quality and best practices in everything she does.
